Shaat Sinkhole is the most famous sinkhole on the Western Side of Salalah City. Dhofar (Zufar) Governorate in Oman has many other sinkholes. The other 2 prominent sinkholes are

- Tayq Sinkhole
What are Sinkholes?
As per Wikipedia, “A sinkhole, also known as a cenote, sink,sink-hole, shakehole, swallet, swallow hole, or doline (the different terms for sinkholes are often used interchangeably), is a depression or hole in the ground caused by some form of collapse of the surface layer.”

There is a walkway around the sinkhole. This sinkhole is not as huge as that of Tawi Attair or Tayq, but the walk way is the best one. There are couple of viewing galleries to view the sinkhole.
Visit the Sinkhole During Khareef Season
Many tourist visits Shaat Viewpoint, Hidden Beach and the sinkhole during Khareef, the monsoon season. It is and ideal time to visit for those who like mist and rain.
During the other time of the year, the place is less green, but the weather is clear and its not crowded.
Location of Shaat Sinkhole Oman
This Sinkhole is located in Shaat, Rakhyut wilayat, around 200 kilometers west of Salalah City. The drive to the sinkhole is via beautiful road and landscape.
The coastal road of Mughsail, soon becomes a hairpin road, with sharp bends and curves in Jabal Al Qamar. Then you will pass through beaches of Fazayah, and then arrive to this beautiful place.
