Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Departure from Dubai
Departure in the afternoon from Dubai to Salalah by GTC air conditioned bus from Deira, Dubai at 3 pm. Arrive at least 1 hour earlier before the bus departure. The bus will have a direct journey to Salalah, but on the way there will 3 to 4 stops for praying, food and toilets break. It is recommended to carry water, food, book, small pillow or blanket for a comfortable ride in the bus. You are allowed to have one suitcase for luggage and one hand carry. There will not be Wi-Fi in the bus so check with mobile service provider in UAE for activating GPRS (4G) on your phone in Oman.
Day 2: Arrival to Salalah and Sunset Salalah City Tour
You will Arrival in Salalah at around 7 am - 8am depending on the time taken at the Oman and UAE border for immigration. The ride of the bus is the best in the last 1 hour before reaching Salalah as you will be passing through the famous Dhofar Mountains, which are around 3000 feet in altitude. The view of Salalah city from this elevation is extraordinary at dawn.
The bus station in Salalah is located in City Center right next to the Central Market. From the bus station, you will be transferred to 3 star Hamdan Plaza Hotel. After check-in and getting fresh, there will be a half day City tour of Salalah in the afternoon.
This sunset half day city tour will show you the rich diversity of the city with lovely beaches, historical sites, museum, Palace, fruit farms and markets. The places will be Sultan Qaboos Mosque (the largest mosque in Salalah named after the King of Oman), Burj Al Nadha Clock Tower (an elegant piece of construction and a landmark of Salalah), Tomb of Prophet Imran, Prophet Saleh Camel Foot print (which is a miracle mentioned in Quran), Al Baleed Archeological site * (Al Baleed Archaeological Park is an open air Archaeological site across the Arabian Sea and a UNESCO World Heritage site. There is also one indoor museum "The Museum of Frankincense Land" at the site, which hosts Artifacts excavated from archeological sites, Governorate of Dhofar's historical and archaeological heritage and Superb models of Omani boats from 3000 BC to current), Haffa Souq (traditional market which sells perfumes, clothes, souvenirs and the famous Frankincense – once Frankincense was traded like Gold and Silver), Al Husn Palace (Palace of Sultan), Haffa Beach (white sand beach and a perfect sunset spot), Fruit Huts (who are selling fresh coconut drink and bananas from the adjacent fruit farms).
Drop to Salalah Gardens Mall (the largest mall in Salalah) where you can have dinner ($) and you can shop. Hotel is at a walking distance from the mall.

Day 3: Full Day (8 Hours) East Salalah Tour
After the breakfast in the hotel restaurant, you will be taken for a magical journey to the eastern side of Salalah, where one of best landscape of the Middle East awaits you.
Taqa Castle * is one of Dhofar’s most distinguished landmarks, which was built in the 19th century. Its walls were constructed from solid blocks of ‘Taqa Stone’, a local limestone material composed chiefly of fossilized shells and corals. You can see the well, roofless jail, formal sitting area also known as majlis, bedrooms, kitchen and stores. In these areas you will see traditional weaponry, jewelry, every day household items and fascinating traditional colorful pieces of clothes.
Taqa has a great beach also and is a great spot for birds watching.
The most popular valley of the Dhofar Region, Wadi Darbat will be your next stop. Here you will be seeing the seasonal waterfall (if its there at the time of your visit), a spring where you can do boating ($) overlooking the mountain of Jabal Qara series. A trip to Salalah is incomplete without visiting this beautiful valley.
Next stop will be a sinkhole, Tawi Atair Sinkhole. Tawi Attair in Arabic sounds similar to “Well of Birds”. There are many birds living nearby. A trek goes down to the sinkhole and if you are physically fit you can walk down and experience trekking along the sinkhole, which is not too common in the world.
Jabal Samhan is the highest point in Dhofar region, which is above 4000 feet. From here the view is amazing and if you are lucky, you will see mountains passing below you. It’s a perfect place for a timelapse.
Mirbat a fishing town some 75 kilometers East of Salalah, is one of the ten wilayats of Dhofar Governorate. It is a charming coastal town situated between the extraordinary escarpment of Jebel Samhan and the Arabian Sea. The entrance of Mirbat is marked with two miniature statues of prancing brown horses; one on each side of the road. These horses are whimsical memorial to the history of Mirbat as an important breeding center for Arabian steeds.
The pristine white sand beaches await you at Mirbat. The view is simply one of the best in the region. The sand is really soft and leaves a nice foot print. The drive through the Old houses (abandoned village) along the beach is a unique experience in Mirbat. Traditional boats (called Dhow) are very commonly see in Mirbat’s pristine coastline as it’s a fishing town. Mirbat Harbor is a great place to see these boats closely and experience this old trading route. Have a fresh fish at lunch ($).

Day 4: Half Day (4 Hours) Sightseeing Tour # 2 and Drop to Bus Station for return Journey
After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and keep the luggage at the luggage counter at the hotel. The mesmerizing journey to Salalah will continue, this time to the Western side. Tour will begin at 9 am. Tour will begin with a trip to Ittin moutains on Jabal Qara and will have a great view of Salalah city from an altitude of over a thousand feet. There is an amazing cave and the trek to the cave has fascinating views of Jabal Qara and Salalah city. Journey will continue on the mountain till Prophet Ayub (Prophet Job) Tomb, who is a famous prophet for all the religions and mentioned in the Holy Quran and Bible.
The journey of Salalah is incomplete without a trip to white sand beaches of Mughsayl and the blowholes overlooking Marneef cave. The blowholes are also referred as Mughsayl Natural Fountains by the tourists. The water jet from the blowholes vary according to the season, but can get as high as 28m in the sky in Khareef season. This is a unique trek in the Middle East where you start your walk from beach and go up to a cave and end up at blowholes.
At around 1 pm, take your luggage from the hotel and you will be dropped to bus station in the city center from where you will take GTC bus for Dubai. Bus will depart at 3pm. Drop to station will be at least 1 hour before. The air-conditioned bus will pass through Dhofar and other governorates of Oman before crossing the Oman – UAE Border.
Day 5: Arrival in Dubai
You will arrive in Deira, Dubai at 7 - 8 am. After this take a cab (taxi) and move to your residence ($).
